So, the fams was in the kitchen. Adrienne was trying to feed Riley some soup. I was cutting some fruit to eat. All of a sudden Riley decides she don't want no more soup. Instead of saying no, or I'm done, she decides to smack the soup bowl out of mama's hands, and it spills all over Adrienne's pants. RKJ is quite proud of herself. Mama gives Riley a firm "NO" but Riley still gots that big smile on her face. So I turn to her, bust out the old Ed-Rec/KCDC voice and start to scold Riley. Saying things like "RILEY! WHY DID YOU DO THAY?" and "THAT WAS BAD! NO! and other stuff. Now, I know she don't really understand the words I'm saying, but I think she knows when she does something naughty. So, as I'm loudly saying these things, her little eyes begin to water and I see her lips start to quiver. I'm thinking, I knew she understood! So I continue to the scolding, waiting for the tears to come out of her eyes. Then she does the weirdest thing ever...she bites her lower lip, and it looks like she is trying not to cry. Like literally holding in her tears like she don't wanna be sorry for what she did. I look at Adrienne and say, are you seeing what I'm seeing? She says, yeah, and thoughts of Riley when she is a teenager doing the same thing to me begin to race through my mind. And the only think I'm thinking is...I'm screwed. Now there are 2 ladies in the family who don't shed tears no matter what. Like mama like daughter. *sigh* I think I'm gonna go watch "bring it on" now and cry my heart out...

Part III : The Year in Review...

Heeeerrrrreeee weeee gooooo....here we go, one more time, everybody's feeling fine....here we go now.....

Let's start way back when before RKJ was even born....here she is at

13 Weeks...man it feels like that was a long time ago...

fast forward to the day she pops out...with everyone waiting in great anticipation

ahhh...coming in at 21 inches, 8lbs. 4ounces...rkj is finally here...

had a whole mess of family and friends visit...

till we're back at home, where we discover she really likes to sleep...

we soon discover how valueable sleep is...

milestone: umbilical chord falls off...whats gross is we still have it..hehe

slowly we start figuring our her sleeping habits...

Here's our trip to Cancun...

Part II

So, I had a few more videos to post for part I, but my computer is not being cooperative...so those will hafta wait. Adrienne and I have been busy trying to plan her first bday party....deciding on food, games, etc....even though she will have absolutely no memory of the day. We better take lots of pictures. I originally wanted to have a Mcdonalds party. Like buying a whole mess of mcnuggets and fries and stuff....but I guess that's no so healthy. So I think we'll be getting filipino food! Much healthier huh?

Anyways, here's a quick story about Riley. She goes to gymboree every monday, and this one monday she goes up to this boy, opens her mouth, and the next thing I know the boys mom is like Awwww! How cute, she kissed him! I didn't want to break it to her, but lady....my daughter was bout to straight up eat your son!

Well... we can't say that was her first steps, cuz she actually did that bout 1 month ago. But we finally got around to getting it on video. Our little girl is growing up sooo fast it's making me sad.
*sigh*

Movin on...so now that the election is over, we can finally go back to what this blog is for....RILEY!!! Anyways, I've got a ton a videos and pics to show, it's just taken me some time to upload them all. So let's get to it...shall we?

So Riley usually wakes up around 7am, while her parents are still pretty tired and groggy. So whoever's turn it is that day to watch her usually lets her play by herself in her room with us watching. Here's what she's really likes doing when she's thinks no one is looking....wait for the end when she gets way stuck...

Not sure where she gets that...I'm pretty sure I was a scaredy cat when I was a kid....Anyways, this next clip is a little something she picked up maybe about a month or so ago....

Well like these kids say...You can vote however you like!!! I'm not gonna use this blog to talk politics....but...yeah everyone go out and VOTE!!!

So who am I gonna vote for? I don't really agree with everything Obama stands for. But I gotta say...McCain/Palin has run an extremely ugly, dirty, and untruthful campaign. I'm not saying the dems don't lie. But the GOP don't even try to disguise there lies....it's that blantant. My bad, I guess I am talking politics...Seriously though, have you ever heard Palin speak? She should seriously go on "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" And she's supposed to be the prez if something happens to McCain, who by the way has statistically a 1/3 chance of passing away in the next 4 years.

Okay, so maybe McCain will make it past the next 4 years. I'm sure he'll still be able to lead our country and have his wits about him....

Before we get to this post on ry ry...I gota say awesome job to my choir kids for this past weekends musical...Surrender! Yall did great and you guys always come through!

So in July, we moved from one unit in our building to the bigger upstairs unit. There was a whole lot to move, and unfortunately Adrienne was not able to help me carry anything because this happened to her hand...

I know gross right? Here's the story: She started feeling a little tendonitis in her wrist. So she put some chinese medicine on it and wrapped it up. Then 2 days later...viola...she has leprosy.
So she's ok now. And here's a video of her cutting off some excess skin...again...warning if you can't take it dont watch it...

Don't ask why we would video that. Riley's parentals are a little off. Let's move on to more pleasant things shall we.....more pics!

I can't believe how old she's getting. As I'm writing this she is already 7.5 months old. She totally crawls around everywhere about a month ago. It's hard to put her to sleep, cuz she likes to pull herself up in the crib and just stand there. I mean my baby seems like she's a whole new baby. I mean we even went to start looking at preschools. I told Adrienne, now that I'm looking for schools for someone besides me...totally make me feel old. It's selfish of me...but it's like I don't want her to grow up so fast. Hello peoples....i know, i know....I promised more frequent shorter posts, so to the 3 people reading....I'm sorry! It's been hard since I've gone back to work. So hopefully I'll do a post at least once a week on fridays, since I don't work fridays.

Hey everyone...this is a little late since we got back almost a week ago from Me-he-co, but better late then never I suppose. Let me first start off by saying we were really worried how Riley would do on the plane rides there and back. Well, I gotta say....she was really good. I'm sure I just jinxed ourselves for our next trip. But really, she really didn't cry at all. And she slept really well while we were there too. One night from 11pm-7am.

Okay, so instead of me writing about what we did there....I'm just gonna show pictures and narrarate....sorry some of these pics don't have Riley in them...

Starting off on the plane....so far so good

Our hotel room....complete with jacuzzi right in the middle of the room

They also gave us a room with two beds??

So the next day...I got to go jet skiing with Pops in law...

So I was able to go jet skiing....cuz lil monkey was with Po Po

So then we were off to dinner, where I got to show off my HS Singspiration shaker skillz

So in town we went looking for a sombrero for Riley

So the next couple days Riley stayed with Gung Gung and Po Po

So that we could go play...here we are in Tulum with the nice beach and Mayan ruins
I know...I'm standing like a girl....*shrug*

All By Myself...

So I've decided to try and do shorter posts but more often. That way I won't forget stuff I was meaning to write about...

So this week I've gotten to spend a lot more time with Riley all by myself. With Adrienne and I trying to go back to work we've been taking turns with Riley while the other is at work. So this week I had her Tuesday, Thursday, and today. And I do think the more time I spend alone with her the better I get to know how she ticks. Here are some things I've figured out about her this week...

1. She smiles back at you when you smile really big at her. But only after she eats and is in a good mood.

2. She likes to sit up instead of lying down now.

3. She loves to watch either the TV screen or computer screen. So now we try not to let her watch.

4. She burps louder than I do. (Hoping to get this on video soon)

5. She has a fake cry and a real cry.

I'm glad I was able to spend more time with her this week as my baby is growing up oh so quickly. Sorry this post is more mushy than usual. Here are some pics from my week with her. Oh and wish us luck as we'll be taking our first vaca together pretty soon in the Mayan Riveria, which I found out is fancy talk for Cancun. I'm out...

First off...Riley's got a couple of new friends, Micah, born 4.4.08 Also the bday of Master Samuel, my blog inspirer. And Rylan (Rob and Shirely's son). Anyways, now Micah, Rylan , and Riley can start their own fellowship group.

Okay this is gonna be a long post since it's been a while. Sorry for the delay in posts, it's been a little tough to find free time to post. I can't believe my last post was at 1 month. Anyways, lots going on, on the RKJ front....Let's get to it.

So Easter Sunday was 2 weeks ago, and here's Riley in her Easter gear. (We thought a crown of thorns might be a bit much for her this year, so we went the bunny route)

Speaking of Jesus...Riley finally got her passport!!! Thank you Jesus! We finally just used our own camera and photoshopped it. Good thing too, cuz on our plane tickets, its says really big: All
passengers travelling to Mexico must have el passporte regardless of age.

So Riley is now 7 weeks old, and I was starting to think about the class of 07. I mean we had some 08 visitors, even some 09 and 10 visitors. Other than than Alton, Adi, and Jared, I was like where are the rest of my boys at? My blood and sweat for 7 long years. Just when I started to lose hope....they came through...so the next part of this post is dedicated to you...boys of the class of 2007...

Well, almost. Actually 29 days later, but 28 days later sounds so much better. Riley is officially 1 month old now, so we had a little cake celebration for her with some friends and family. Here are some of those pics...

Went to our 1 month peditrician's appt. Updated stats:

Length: 23 inches yup she's long...she doesnt get that from me

So here's an update to the passport story. I get a letter from the passport agency today in the mail. I was excited thinking it was Riley's passport, I ripped open the envelope and guess what...the picture we took at the post office was no good! OMG!! You have got to be kidding me. So, the saga continues...I guess as long as we get it before we go on vacation.

Today, I kinda got a break, cuz Adrienne took Riley shopping for a few hours. So I was able to catch up on a little sleep. Now shopping for Riley is kinda hard for me. Adrienne comes home with these new clothes for her, and I'm like, it's ok. Wrong answer. It's funny, when we go to Baby Gap now, for some reason, I always wander over the the little boys side, and start thinking Riley would look cute in that. I have absolutely no idea what looks cute for girls. I think I'll just pick stuff that will cover her up, like turtle necks and sweat pants. So I'll end this post with a bit of a fashion show for Riley and some different outfits and some random stuff. Enjoy.

Hello peeps...here is part 2 as promised. So Riley has been doing alot more crying lately. She has 3 modes. She is either eating, sleeping, or crying. It's been pretty bad the last couple of days, so on Wednesday we decided to give her this....

...just to see if she would like it. As you can see from the above pic, she does. Alot. So much that she didn't really want to eat that night. Sooooo she's off the paci again and are gonna wait another couple of weeks before we try the pacifer again. This probably made her mad, and now all we get is this...

On the same day I saw this video on CNN...what kinda school is this??? Riley...its homeschooling for you girl....jk...maybe...

Part 1

Today, I'm at work cause Donald took the day off, so I thought I'd do a quick post here. I know I don't post as often as I want to, but it always seems that by the time a get a little bit of free time, I end up sleeping. I guess that's fatherhood for ya. But I'm gonna try to update a little more regularly. So here goes Part 1 (at work, no pics) and hopefully Part 2 will be up tonight (with pics)

Since, I've been noticing a lot of lists from my fellow bloggers, here are my top 5 pet peeves that have to do with Riley.

1. I've been taking Riley for a walk almost every morning around 9am. I walk her down the hill past the Cliffhouse and to the beach. It never fails, that Riley will wait till we are all the way down at the bottom of the hill, when she wakes up and starts crying. Then I have the humilation of strolling a crazy crying baby all the way back up the hill as fast as I can, past dozens of horrified people, who probably think...tisk tisk...what did he do to that poor child.

2. I swear Riley is a prankster. When I'm changing her diaper, just as I'm about done, and I have the new one on, she cranks out another fat one. Thanks girl....I'm so proud.

3. So it takes about 10-15 minutes of holding Riley, before she will go to sleep. And I swear, no joke, just when I think she is asleep and put her down, and I open up the laptop, and I click Yahoo sports, with my finger still on the button, she will cry and need to be picked up. What a punk...

4. She makes this really ugly face sometimes when I kiss her cheeks. I have this effect on women.

5. I can only think of 4.

With all that being said, I'd also like to add that I could not have possibly been more blessed with a more beautiful wonderful little girl. I heart you Riley Kendall Jang. But seriously, stop pooping after I change your diapers...they're expensive man!

Dilemma???

So last night we had our first big dilemma. You see, Adrienne is a big Denver Nuggets fan, because of A.I. and Melo. I on the other hand am a Warriors fan. Last night the Nuggets were playing on ESPN while the Warriors were on FSN. What to do...what to do? Who will Riley root for? Will it be...

or will it be....

Well, we ended up watching most of the Warriors game, while flipping to the Nuggets every once in a while. One thing is for sure...she will most definitely not be a fan of this...

My friend Norman Tseng thought it would be high-larious if he got Riley this since he's a lame Mavs fan...

Moving on, we also took a trip to the post office on Friday to get Riley's passport taken care of, since we are planning on a trip to the Mayan Riviera soon. Let me tell you, it was hell.... We wait in line for a while, then when we get to the front the dude gives me an application to fill out. I fill it out, then have to wait in the line again. Then he tells us we have to take a picture Riley but have to wait for dude to finish with like 3 more peeps. Then when he's ready to take a picture, he says her eyes have to be open. I'm like...what?!? Why didnt you tell me like 20 minutes ago so I could start waking her up then. So now, I hafta wake up my poor sleeping baby up. And dude goes back to help more people. Riley won't wake up...so I take out a cold wet wipe and start wiping her face. I can then start to see it in her face, and wouldnt you know it...she turns into like an exorcist baby and starts wailing at the top of her lungs. It's kinda embarrassing so I go to the guys and say please take the picture now. He runs over and says she's still not opening her eyes. I'm like..she's chinese...they're open. No go. So we have to calm her down till she's not crying with her eyes closed, which takes another 10 minutes. And then finally... we take the picture, which isnt guaranteed to be accepted by the passport gods. So we'll see...what a fun hour and a half.

Ok...on a happier note, I'll leave yall with some more friends and family visiting...

So, Riley was born with really long finger and toe nails....so in the car seat she scratches herself on the face. So sad...I was praying it wouldnt actually scar, and luckily it didn't. Here's a picture of the facial blemish...like a little tear tatoo...she is gangsta

Also, in other 2nd week news, her umbilical cord has finally fallen off. I'm sure most of yall don't really care to see it, but here it is anyways...haha...

Adrienne and I have also finally got a chance to get out of the house for a little bit. We went to Smart and Final to get some lemon teas and to Stonestown to get me some more gear for Riley.

Week 2

Kendall Riley

So we had our 2nd pediatrician's appt. this past thursday. Lots of crying babies...Anyways, we are all sitting in the waiting room trading baby compliments. Someone asks, what's her name? We reply, Riley. Then the woman next to me goes...Riley? Really, that's my daughter's middle name. We go, really? What's her first name? Then, she goes...(no joke) Oh her name's Kendall! We're like WHAT?!? That's so crazy!!! No lie. Riley Kendall, meet Kendall Riley. I guess we're not as original as we thought. Which delves into our next question. How did we come up with the name? When? How? It's a pretty boring story. Basically, once we found out she was gonna be a girl, Adrienne starting look through girl names. She says, what about Kyle? I say its cool, but then there would be a lot of pressure for her to grow up pretty. Otherwise, she'd be destined as a tomboy. Then she goes how bout, rayley. I'm like NO! Thats sounds like Ray Lee, who is our friend. So then we settled on Riley. We've been holding on to that name for probably about 6-7 months not saying anything, afraid of name stealers.

So we've had a ton of friends and family visit these last 2 weeks, and Adrienne and I want to say how extremely thankful we are for all of you! Thanks for sharing in this exciting time with us and being part of Riley's life. With that being said here are some pics of visitors (sorry no family pics in this post)...

So this is the first entry of Riley's blog. It's been exactly 1 week since she was born. I actually got sick yesterday so I had to stay with my parents so I don't get her sick.

When I think about it, it's kinda weird. One minute she's inside this round stomach, and the next she's this little person crying her head off. I would say the biggest adjustment is the lack of sleep, since she doesn't sleep through the night yet. But it's not too bad, we've had tons of people come and visit and offer to help. So once in a while, someone will come, we'll hand her off, and go take a nap. Those are pretty helpful.

They say once you have a kid, your whole life changes. I can see that. It's like you have to tend to this little being 24/7. You need food? Got it. You need changing? On it. Got some gas? Lemme help you out. It's weird though. If I did all this stuff for someone else besides my own kids, I'd probably hate them by now. But because it's our own, you love them. I'm guessing this is how God feels about us. How we're probably really annoying to Him, but he probably just laughs it off, and says I love you anyways.

Anyways, I'm hoping to be home by tomorrow. Any hopefully I'll have some pics to post.
